Searching for meaning can seem elusive without a guide, but maybe we’ve been asking the wrong questions. Our senses serve as a reliable source which is often ignored. Love, for instance, at first sight doesn’t exist as that is a nature of lust. However, let’s not act like without the initial physical attraction that we would entertain possibilities with that person. Only after they’ve caught our eye do we feel tempted to engage in more intimate connections provoking the right questions: Is this worth pursuing deeper? Or does this stop at lust?

Distractions tend to limit themselves as we consciously choose what best serves our energy. We can shift from going with the flow to creating it using a 3-step process.

Attraction Being mindful of what satisfies our senses is the intention here. Simply ask yourself: What am I a fan of? This will guide your interest in activities you may enjoy seeing, listening to, or perhaps the feeling it inspires.

Once we have this realization, we can then disconnect/distance from whatever doesn’t align with that discovery. Here we would perform an energy audit of the mind, environment, & experiences (digital & in-person).

Chemistry A deeply important quality to sustain any relationship. This is that best friend energy, but in this sense, with uncertainty. We can also refer to this as the dating phase, an opportunity to explore your interests. Everything doesn’t have to revolve around the passion to business mindset — if you come to that realization for one of your interests then it’s worth pursuing, but there are also interests worth discovering for creative expression.

Letting go of expectations is key to conquering uncertainty. The focus shifts to the energy we give rather than the outcome received, thus revealing the answers we truly seek.

Motion is also more influential than stagnation. For the past few years, I’ve operated in a Learn — Create — Adapt cycle but would often immerse myself in learning to the point of inaction. I openly embraced the idea of uncertainty yet was unable to thrive as my relationship with overthinking became an unnecessary obstacle. “I’m a visionary” is what I would tell myself & a few others which began to hold truth as an excuse. Trying to know everything before taking the first step is unrealistic as wisdom is gained through experience.

It’s essential to get in motion the moment we identify a starting point & let the details align along the way. Create — Learn — Adapt may not be a new discovery but this slight shift of mind helped redefine my relationship with uncertainty.

Reasoning Why does this matter? Do your interests align with your values (non-negotiables)? Motivation is overrated but understanding why you choose to do something will allow you to embody curious exploration.

a sole reason for being may not exist

Curiosity guides our sense of direction for meaningful experiences. There seems to be a lot of pressure to discover your sole reason for being which may be ideal for some but not practical for many.

That sole reason for being has been realized based on the person you were at the time of your discovery. So, assuming you continuously evolve, there may be new meaning to discover in the future. We are not only capable but expected to adapt as we encounter new experiences & receive new information.

Often, we discover the answers en route or perhaps better said, “How am I supposed to gain experience without experience?” We have the power to consciously choose our experiences. It’s important to show SELF compassion for not having all the answers — compassion for others will come naturally as a result. Embrace the ebbs & flows of life & give more than you expect to receive but be willing to receive everything that was meant to be.
